Deferred Action, commonly known as DACA,  is a policy authorized by President Obama.  It directs the Department of Homeland Security to allow certain people, under age 31, legal status.  Only those who did not intentionally violate immigration law may continue to live and work in the United States.

DACA eligibility extends to children and adults under the age of 31, brought into the United States illegally who have committed no intentional act in defiance of U.S. immigration law.  The administration decided that since they are not responsible for what happened when they were young, it is unreasonable to punish them. The DHS has decided that it is unnecessary to deport eligible immigrants if they meet DACA guidelines.
